Do Not Be Afraid!

Matthew 10:28-31

More and more these days, we see people trying to intimidate others. It happens at work, in relationships, online, even within families. Have you ever been the object of intimidation? If so, you may have felt angry or violated. And if no one came to your rescue, you may have felt lost and alone.

Jesus speaks directly to that fear. He acknowledges that intimidation is real: people can harm you, threaten you, even take your life. But He draws a sharp distinction: they can only touch the body. They cannot touch your soul.

And more importantly, your Father in heaven sees every sparrow that falls. God counts every hair on your head. You are worth infinitely more than a sparrow.

There is no need to feel anxious. There is no need to be afraid. God is standing by to comfort and keep you in the midst of all kinds of troubles. God does not always remove the intimidator, but God promises to be with you. God’s presence is your protection. God’s love is your refuge.

The only real fear worth having is a reverent awe of God, the One who holds eternity.

When you fear God, you have nothing else to fear. People may threaten, but they cannot take your identity, your salvation, or your hope.

All you have to do is trust. Bring your fear to God. Tell God exactly what intimidates you. Then let God’s care settle over you like a shield.

You are not forgotten. You are not alone. You are treasured by the God who never sleeps. So do not be afraid.
