God’s Waiting Room

Have you ever been in God’s waiting room? You probably felt many emotions there. Discouragement, disappointment, anger, resentment, fatigue, and uncertainty showed up and threatened to absorb you. The changes you are going through now might feel like a roller coaster ride – up, down, and around. Keep holding on, and just remember this: God is always faithful!

Focus Scripture: Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Psalm 36:5

A Prayer for Thanksgiving Week

Holy God, we thank you for all the ways you continue to bless us. We have so much to be thankful for this week and every day. Thank you for protecting us from dangers seen and unseen. Thank you for keeping us safe beneath the shadow of your wings. Thank you for wrapping us up in your loving arms and reassuring us in times of trouble. Thank you for giving us your peace. We pray that you will be with those in need this week. In all things we give you the praise. Amen.

Living Water

Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”

John 4:10

Jesus had been traveling all morning and was tired from the journey. He was at a point where he had to pass through Samaria, so he sat down beside Jacobs’s well. It was around noon. Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus asked the woman to give him a drink. In this scenario, we would generally expect her to raise the bucket and then hand Jesus a cup. Instead, Jesus turned the tables. He offered to quench the woman’s thirst with living water. He explained to her that if she drank the water he offered, she would never grow thirsty again. It was the water that satisfies the body and nourishes the Spirit. And it flows like a spring welling up to eternal life.
