From the Secret Place – A Prayer for Hope

Focus Scripture – Romans 5:3-5 (NLT) – We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

Faithful God, thank you for rescuing us from despair during this pandemic. Even in the midst of trouble, we thank you for fortifying our faith. Through our struggles, O God, we ask that you will help us to endure. Strengthen us along the way.

Through our trials, help us to develop a character based on the hope that trouble won’t last always. You hold the future; our life is in your hands. Help us to persevere by the power of your Holy Spirit who fills our hearts with your love. We place our hope in you. And we know that hope does not disappoint. In all things, we give you glory. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

From the Secret Place – A Prayer for Spiritual Calmness

Focus Scripture – Luke 8:24-25 – They went to him [Jesus] and woke him up, shouting, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And he woke up and rebuked the wind and the raging waves; they ceased, and there was a calm. He said to them, “Where is your faith?” They were afraid and amazed, and said to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him?”

Awesome Jesus, you are amazing. When storms are raging all around us, you speak peace and there is calmness in our spirits. Thank you for watching over us during this pandemic. Help us to know who you are so that our faith will not fail. You have command over nature. You have overcome this world. You have conquered sin and death. You love us so much that you laid down your life for us. Help our unbelief. In all things, we give you thanks and praise. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

From the Secret Place – A Prayer to Our Omniscient God

Focus Scripture – Romans 11:33 – O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

Almighty God, Creator of everything that is good and perfect, we stand in awe of you today! Your wisdom and your knowledge surpass anything that we could even consider. Your judgments are eternal. Your ways are inscrutable! You are the source and the destination of all things! We are humbled in your presence.

Your word tells us: “For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” “Or who has given a gift to him, to receive a gift in return?” For from him and through him and to him are all things (v. 34).

Have mercy on us during this pandemic. Help us when we feel lonely and afraid. Be with us through our sadness and our grief. Heal us in all the ways we need to be healed.

We acknowledge your Sovereignty. We give you glory, honor, and praise today. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
