About the Chaplain

Rev. Lorrie C. Reed, M. Div., Ph.D., is the founder of the Rivertree Christian Chapel. An ordained minister, evangelist, teacher, preacher, educator, mentor, systemic change specialist, author and researcher, her professional experiences include service as a secondary school teacher, high school associate principal, middle school principal, curriculum director, university professor, and consultant. She is the Associate Pastor for Christian Education at a United Church of Christ congregation in the Chicago metropolitan area. Rev. Lorrie is also Chaplain of Rivertree Christian Chapel and the founder of the Rivertree Educational Ministries, Inc.

Her current ministerial focus is on faith, hope, and love — uplifting spiritual, social, educational and community mechanisms for reinforcing justice and inter-generational resilience among all people. She continually searches for linkages between Jesus and Justice in a troubled world and tries to share these insights with others in need.

Ministry is her third career. Rev. Lorrie is the author of several books and holds a Ph.D. in Research Methodology, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration, a Master’s degree in Theological Studies, a Master of Divinity degree, and a Bachelor’s degree in English education. She is actively involved in developing and sharing Christian educational materials. Most of all, she finds joy in serving the needs of God’s people.

She is a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Spending time with family is one of her favorite pastimes. Rev. Lorrie lives in Chicago with her husband of more than four decades.
