Merciful God, we thank you for another day of life, for the air that we breathe, the steps we are able to take, for minds that are at peace because they are stayed on you.
On this Maundy Thursday, we thank you for Jesus, who washed the feet of his disciples and shared a common meal with them for the last time.
We thank you for the example Jesus gave us on how to be humble and serve others. Forgive us, O God, for all the ways we have sinned against you and against each other. Teach us how to love each other, as you commanded.
When we are able to move forward after the stay-at-home order has been lifted, we pray that you will give us a spirit of humility and service. Show us how to help others recover on the other side of this pandemic. Help us to show them the same grace that you have shown us.
We recall the words you spoke to your people through the prophet Jeremiah: “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” We hold onto this hope right now, O God. And we stand on your word.
We acknowledge your Sovereignty. We put our trust in you and we affirm that you are in control. So we thank you in advance, O God. We give you praise, and in all things we give you glory. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
