Gracious God, we thank you for sustaining us through this time of trial. In our isolation, we’ve had these days to reflect and pray on what is important and essential in this life. You’ve made us look inside and examine ourselves. And you’ve revealed to us our brokenness and vulnerability. You’ve helped us to recognize those things we need to let go of and those things we must embrace.
We pray that you will forgive us of our sinfulness. With all that is within us, we thank you, O God, for Jesus Christ our redeemer and his selfless sacrifice for us.
We pray that when this pandemic has passed over – and it will pass over – you will help us to bury those nonessential things we once thought were important. We pray that you will bring to our remembrance the love Jesus poured out for us on the cross.
We pray that you will help us to nail to the cross our excesses, our greed, our selfishness, our brokenness and our sins of omission and commission. Help us to declare that these things are finished and help us to let them go!
We know, O God, that you can resurrect in us a new thing. Help us to find new ways to reach out to others and share the blessings you have bestowed on us. In spite of all we’ve been through, you’ve kept us with peace and hope and resilience through Christ Jesus.
So, we thank you in advance, O God. And we acknowledge your Sovereignty. In all things, we give you the glory. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
